Community guidelines

Schorsch lives from dog owners warning each other about hazards. For that to work, a few rules are needed. They apply to everything you contribute in the app: reports, photos, descriptions and your username.

The German version of these guidelines is the authoritative one.

This is expressly welcome

  • Photos and descriptions of real hazards, even if they are unpleasant. Poison bait with nails, a trap in the bushes or a spot with broken glass belong here.
  • Reporting a carcass, here without a photo: this report type deliberately no longer accepts one. Your description says everything others need to know for their walk.
  • Factual notes that help others: where exactly, since when, what to look out for.
  • Confirming or rejecting reports if you have been there yourself.
  • Adding a dog waste bin that really is there. It is the first kind of contribution that doesn’t expire: it stays until several people report that the bin is gone.
  • Correcting the type of a dog waste bin from OpenStreetMap, moving the point to the right spot, or adding your own photo or a note, if you have been there. The photo shows the bin, no people and no number plates.
  • Adjusting the place description of a report when the automatic one does not fit, for example «forest path by the stream». It describes the place, not a person and not the address of somebody else.

This is not allowed

  • Inventing bins or placing them in the wrong spot, and reporting «No longer there» without having been there. Both send others on a detour that leads nowhere.
  • Depictions of violence that have nothing to do with a hazard report.
  • Sexual or pornographic content.
  • Racist, inflammatory or offensive content, in pictures, in texts and in usernames.
  • Advertising and spam, in descriptions as well.
  • Deliberately false reports. An invented poison bait warning unsettles real people.
  • Personal data of third parties: number plates, recognisable faces, addresses or names of other people.

What happens in case of a violation

Photos and texts are checked automatically when you send them, and after saving the server checks them a second time. Anything flagged cannot be uploaded in the first place or is removed again straight away. Everything else happens in three steps: the content is removed. If it happens again, you can no longer create new posts, but warnings and the map remain available, because your dog's safety does not depend on it. In serious cases the account is blocked.

If you think we got it wrong, write to us and we will look into it.

Reporting a violation

If a report breaks these guidelines, open it in the app and tap «Report a rule violation» to pass it on to us. We look at every notice. Nobody except us learns who sent it.

For everything else you can reach us at hallo@schorsch-app.ch.
