Delete account and data

1. Delete your whole account

The quickest way is directly in the app:

1. 1Open Schorsch and tap «Profile» at the bottom.
2. 2Tap «Edit profile».
3. 3Scroll down to the «Danger zone» section.
4. 4Tap «Delete account permanently» and confirm.

The deletion happens immediately and is final. You are signed out automatically.

No longer have access to the app? Write to us from the email address your account is registered with, at support@schorsch-app.ch. We delete your account within 30 days.

What is deleted

• •Your profile: username, email address, password, profile picture, settings
• •Your last known location and any fixed home location including its address
• •Your favourites
• •All your reports (poison bait, blue-green algae, other hazards, fireworks, active shooting) including photos
• •All your missing dog reports including photos
• •All your confirmations and rejections of other people’s reports
• •Your notification history and your daily check summaries
• •Your push registrations
• •The feedback you sent, including uploaded images
• •For dog waste bins: your username and the photos you added, whether for your own entries or existing ones. The location itself remains, see below.
• •Translations of your texts that we cached: they disappear together with the report they belong to.

2. Delete individual data, keep your account

You can do a lot yourself at any time:

• •Delete a single report: open the report → «Withdraw report». Any photo is deleted with it.
• •See and delete all your own reports: Profile → «My reports».
• •Remove favourites: tap the star at the shooting range.
• •Remove or replace your profile picture: Profile → «Edit profile».
• •Switch off notifications: Profile → «Notifications».
• •Remove a fixed home location: Profile → «Notifications» → «Back to automatic».

For everything else, write to us from the email address your account is registered with, at support@schorsch-app.ch and tell us what should be deleted:

• •Your stored location
• •Your notification history
• •Your daily check summaries
• •The feedback you sent, including images

We handle such requests within 30 days. If the request comes from an address other than the one stored in the account, we check back for safety; otherwise someone could have other people’s data deleted.

About your location: Schorsch remembers your last known location to warn you about hazards near you. It is updated every time you open the map. If we delete it, it is created again the next time you open the map. You can only prevent that permanently by withdrawing the app’s location permission. If you have set a fixed home location, Schorsch also remembers it including its address until you remove it under Profile → «Notifications». It applies whenever the position you last sent is older than 12 hours.

What is still kept after deletion

Our database is backed up regularly. Deleted data can therefore still be contained in these backups for 7 days before it disappears for good. No data is restored from backups, except after a technical failure.

An exception are dog waste bins you added. The location of a bin stays on the map because others rely on it: it is a shared collection, not a personal contribution. Everything personal about it is removed, meaning your username and the photos you added, whether for your own entries or existing ones. After that the entry can no longer be linked to anyone. A log of your corrections to dog waste bins remains for up to 90 days without any link to your account.

A second exception is the list of supporters. If you supported the further development and agreed that we may name you or write to you again, your email address is in a list that is not tied to any account. It therefore remains if you delete your account. You can unsubscribe using the link in our emails to this list or with a message to us.

Beyond that, we keep no personal data after deletion.
